BrandZ 2026: Google reclaims the summit after four years, ChatGPT posts the second-biggest jump in ranking history

Kantar's BrandZ 2026 ranking shows Google reclaiming the No. 1 spot held by Apple for four years, up 57% to a $1.485 trillion brand value. ChatGPT's brand value rose 285% — the second-biggest increase in Top 100 history after BlackBerry's 390% leap in 2008. The Top 100's combined value reached a record $13.1 trillion (+22%).

Kantar’s BrandZ Global Top 100 ranking, published May 14, 2026, shows how fast brand value is now tied to the AI narrative. Google reclaimed the No. 1 spot it had ceded to Apple for four straight years: brand value rose 57% year-on-year to $1.485 trillion, a jump the ranking attributes directly to its AI capabilities. Apple sits second at $1.380 trillion (+6%), Microsoft third at $1.112 trillion (+26%), Amazon fourth at $1.023 trillion (+18%), and Nvidia fifth at $814.9 billion (+60%). The Top 100’s combined value climbed 22% to a record $13.1 trillion.

The most striking line in the ranking belongs to ChatGPT: its brand value rose 285% year-on-year — the highest increase in this year’s ranking. By Kantar’s own account, that’s the second-biggest jump ever recorded in Top 100 history; the record still belongs to BlackBerry, which rose 390% in 2008. The parallel isn’t incidental — it’s a warning. The fastest-rising brand of 2008 became, within a few years, one of the industry’s sharpest collapse stories. Brand value measures belief, not durability — and belief grows fastest exactly when it’s tested least.
